The allrounder for the construction industryThe Erdmännchen company go for the latest vehicle technology from Goldhofer
Erdmännchen Erd- und Tiefbau GmbH of Ebsdorfergrund is an earthworks specialist for all fields of construction. In addition to earthworks and excavation work, their activities also include road construction and transportation of the relevant plant and materials. The loads to be transported vary, from excavators, dumper trucks, rollers, pavers and graders to materials like concrete pipes, foundations and bulk. This makes flexibility the key with regard to the vehicle fleet. To find the vehicle with maximum versatility for the company, Goldhofer, the VS Verkehrssicherheitsteam Barfuss and Erdmännchen jointly developed a convincing transport concept for fast, flexible and safe transportation operations.
“We did a lot of research before we found the right vehicle concept for our fleet,” says company proprietor Stefan Grau. “Goldhofer has configured a vehicle for us which really leaves nothing to be desired and which we can use to transport almost all our construction plant and equipment within a 16.5 m total rig length.” The self-tracking STZ-L 4 A RM semi lowloader is designed to handle construction plant and material up to a payload of 41 tons. For transportation of vehicles with big tires and different wheelbases, the vehicle has lowered outer sections in addition to the wheel recesses on the main loading deck. Aluminum drive-on covers and side extensions are an integral part of the loading concept.
With an extremely low loading height of only 845 mm at the deck, even large construction machines have plenty of headroom. The STZ-L 4 A RM comes with full-length rubber flooring on the loading deck and a practical load securing package for the highest standards of safety. The loading deck is extendable by almost 3 m to provide extra length for long loads and machines. The two-piece rear-mounted hydraulic ramps with hydraulic width adjustment also provide an appropriately low ramp angle for vehicles with low ground clearance. The ramps lock automatically for travel and do not need to be additionally secured. Another safety feature is the radio remote control system using Goldhofer’s »SmartControl«. It permits all electrical and hydraulic controls to be operated from outside the danger zone (ramps), which is greatly appreciated by operating personnel and ensures a high level of acceptance. Mirko Viel, a driver with many years of service with Erdmännchen, is highly enthusiastic about the new operating system and says he would not want to be without it. “A real all-rounder,” says Stefan Grau, who is proud of his new semitrailer and Scania V 8 tractor unit. Without a doubt, the rig is not only impressive for its technical highlights but also for the striking livery, which makes it a real eye-catcher.
